Since season is over (or almost), I thought that it would be interesting if each of us would post a short bio on ourself since I only know you by your user name & really not much else.

I'm Tim Williams from Tulsa, 50 yrs old, 2 girls in college (they don't like Kansas guys), duck & goose hunted for 32 yrs. Use a 6 x 12' enclosed trailer w/ 2 carts & set out around 400 decoys. Use a Foiles SMH, Kenyon, Paralizer & Shoreman calls. Shoot either an SP10 or 11-87, & I collect antique decoys. We goose hunt in far western OK (this year shitty season!) and I have a 2 yr old female lab "Duffy". I have known my hunting buddy since High School. I'm still trying to learn about this sport & need help in calling. OH NO! I forgot - I'm married! She has never - ever complained about me being gone every weekend during season! One goal this year is to try turkey hunting & fish more. Seriously, you guys have been a wealth of info & I appreciate it. Thanks!

Well it's certainly not worth bragging about, but...my name is Tim Strunk and I go to K-State. I am from Valley Center, which is just north of Wichita. This was my second full season of waterfowling and I absolutely love it. I am slowly building my spread, this summer is going to be the big one as far as adding on to it. I also hope to get a trailer built. I do most of my hunting around Wichita and down in Southeast Kansas with some of the guys on here. This season I blew a SMH and loved it. Plan on adding a Saunders Guide Series here pretty soon. I shoot a Beretta 390 and absolutely love that gun. In the spring and summer when I'm not working fishing occupies my time. I love to bass fish and do it competitively on occasion. Fish from a 1997 Skeeter. I also love to fly-fish,me and Ryhlee make several annual trips to Missouri to chase trout.

Well I gues that is about it for me.

Jeff, been waterfowling since 1983. Started goose hunting about 5 years ago and learn more every year. Grew up in Coffeyville, KS, so it's a little surprising to hear all the goose hunting going on in SEK now. Was rare to see canada geese there 10 years ago, which I still have a life time KS lisence so maybe I'll hook up with some of you next year and put that thing to use.

Love to fish in the summer and normally make a few trips into Arkansas and Missouri for a canoe trip for smallmouth bass each spring (thats my real passion).

I mainly use a BPS 12 but for quail and pheasant I might break out my BPS 20.

Jim Dornbusch, from Wichita Kansas. I am 22 years old and I am finishing up my last semester of school at Friends Univ.

This is my second year waterfowl hunting and I have fallen head over heels for it. I am engaged to one of the lovely women that I meet in highschool(hey guys she has all kinds of hunting property)

I have been slowly adding to my spread but I have nearly around 76 decoys. Killed enough ducks this year that I did not know what to do with (almost limited out everytime). On the other hand Goose hunting was rough. I love to hunt and fish, and of course drink beer!!! <img src="graemlins/beer.gif" border="0" alt="[Drinking Brewsky]" /> <img src="graemlins/beer.gif" border="0" alt="[Drinking Brewsky]" />

Bill Huebert, Just getting ready to turn 43, have been married for 18yrs. Have 2 sons, 17 and 14yrs old. When I was 12yrs old I started out duck hunting and continued until my early 20's. Then got into upland bird hunting big time. Picked the duck and goose hunting back up 7yrs ago, and now I very seldom upland bird hunt and my English setter hates me.
I blow a Heartland call and a half breed. Have about a 100 decoys and am shooting a much improved (thanks to the sure cycle) Browning gold hunter.

Have turkey hunted for 22yrs now and have done some guiding for them. I would have to say turkey hunting is my 2nd passion.

I am Self-employed and own a barber shop, and NO I'm sure as hell not gay. <img src="graemlins/peace.gif" border="0" alt="[Peace]" /> I have been known to trade out haircuts for land to hunt own, so it has come in handy on more than 1 occasion.

I'm Eric Flax and I live in Hays, KS. I'm 36 and have been married for almost 9 years to a very understanding woman. We have a 5 year old son. I have been goose hunting for the past three seasons. I LOVE IT! My brother (10's Only) got me started and is who my wife blames for my addiction. I have been working on building my decoy spread and have an nice mix of full bodies, shells and silly's. My father-in-law built me a trailer to haul all this stuff around and to free up a lot of shed space. I have been blowing a maple SR-1 as my main call and I also have an acrylic SR-1 and an acrylic LM-1. Started shooting a Browning Gold 10 this year. Was just getting it broke in good when the season ended.
I do a little bow hunting and turkey hunting to help me get thru the off season. I have learned a lot here and from the guys my brother got me mixed up with. The great thing about my brothers hunting friends is now they are my friends too.

My name is Taylor Trogstad and i'm 22 years old. I go to school at Fort Hays State and am from WaKeeney which is 30 miles west of Hays on I70. This is my 4th year of die-hard goosehunting and to say that i'm obsessed is probably an understatement. Between my roomate and I we have 46 bigfoots with flocked heads(which I would highly reccomend, once you hunted over the flocked heads you'll never go back!), and 3 dozen outlaws. I shoot a browning gold and have got along with it pretty well. I blow a Foiles SMH, a Saunders Guide series delrin, and a half-breed. I hunt with my roomate 99% of the time, he's a diehard too. We aren't going to know what to do once we have to get real jobs!! We both hope to add and FA or avery blind before next year.

When i'm not goosehunting I love to pheasnt/quail hunt with my german short-hair, Barney. This year was the worst that I can ever remember. I just hope we get a rebound for next year. My roomate got me hooked on bowhunting this year and I like to fish when I get the chance. Oh yeah, I guess i also find time to drink a beer every now and again!

This site is awesome! I bunch of great guys who love this as much as I do. There is definately a wealth of knowledge around here. I haven't had the opportunity to meet or hunt with the guys yet, but look forward to doing so this year.

John, I don't think they make a sure cycle for the SP-10, but I could be wrong. If you really want to know you can call Cliff, he sells them here on his site.Unless your having jamming or cycling problems you really don't need one, unless you really just want to spend $130.00 to speed your guns cycling up.

Taylor, Eric, good to see you guys, was beginning to wonder if you guys were still alive <img src="graemlins/beer.gif" border="0" alt="[Drinking Brewsky]" />

CS, I never had a problem with the gun for the rest of the season, after I installed the sure cycle. If your Browning is still jamming I sure would recommend it. It has made a world of difference in my gun!!

My Name is Calvin Schultz and live in Stillwater Okla. I own a truck accessory shop and hardly get to duck hunt anymore. This darn goose hunting takes all my spare time now. i have silo's, shells, windsocks, and fullbodies. I use a zink sr1 but will find a higher pitched call for next year. The zink on water hunts is great but in the winter wheat the birds seem to like the higher pitch.

)My name is Flip Smith (not shitting you, real name is Phil but nobody calls me that :) ) I live in Overland Park, Kansas I don't like the city one bit but hey,a guy has to go to work somewhere right? I've been goose hunting for about 10 years and I'm as ate up with it as anyone I've ever met. I'm 33 years old ,never married. I live with my girlfriend whos really cool about my hunting. I shoot a BPS10 even on the odd occasion that I'm hunting ducks. I blow Heartland custom calls(I have an inside track if anybody wants to purchase a call ;) ) My decoys are carry-lite full bddies and a few shells. Thats all I can think of, are you bored yet :D

Pete Loewen from Manhattan. Just completed my 21st year of shooting ducks and geese. Grew up pond jumping ducks, chasing ditch chickens and occasional quail in SW Kansas, but stayed in Manhattan after graduating from KSU. Married to a gal that loves to hunt almost as much as me and have 2 boys (Hunter-4 and Tyson-2). For the last 9 years since graduating from college, I have been a Commodity broker by trade and a waterfowl hunter by passion. Enjoy training labs and fishing in the offseason. I own 4 different duck boats and a bass boat. I also dabble quite a bit in buy/sell/trade of waterfowl gear. Dealer for Carsten's duck boats, Foiles calls, Herbst backwater calls, Echo calls, custom lanyards and several other odds and ends.

Unfortunately, I am confined to being a "weekend warrior" for ducks and geese, but I never miss a chance to go! Would love to get together with some of you all to trade-a-hunt sometime!

Im set up for both, I didnt have much luck with the snows this year but I had a great year on honkers. I use mainly outlaws but am building up a spread of bigfoots. I blow a Foiles SMH and use eliminators. I have a 3 year old black lab named Mick. I did most of my hunting in Oklahoma and some here in Kansas. Im 31 years old, married to my high school sweatheart, have 2 kids girl 7 and boy 2.

I've needed to post up here for some time so here we go. I'm Gary Schmeidler from Hays Kansas. I'm a 41 year old Certified Public Accountant in Hays (I do not work for Arthur Andersen & I had nothing to do with Enron <img border="0" alt="[Puke]" title="" src="graemlins/TU.gif" /> ). I grew up on a farm near Hays and mostly pond hunted for ducks and geese and was primarily an upland game hunter. I've been on the local Ducks Unlimited committee for quite a few years, everything from treasurer to chairman. I have a great wife and three sons (ages 15, 12 and 6). My oldest son and I have started doing a fair amount of goose hunting the last several years and are getting geared up for the spring turkey season. I shoot a Benelli M1 Super 90 and use a Sean Mann eastern shoreman flute and a Saunders goose pimp short reed (neither one very well so I spread it around :D ). I also like to fish when I get a chance in the summer.

This is a great site, thanks to Eric for introducing it to me!

02-04-2003, 10:45 AM

Hey guys, my name is Ron Volk. Have only waterfowl hunted since I moved here to KS in 1999. Just picked up goose hunting this year thanks to blackfoothunter and his brother-in-law. I'm hooked, but my wife is glad season is over. My wife of 5 yrs is one of the best when it comes to understanding about going hunting every spare moment. I live in Goddard, KS and shoot a Rem. 870 Exp.. I don't have a spread or a blind yet, that is my project for this summer. I used an Eliminator for the last few weeks, and I think that will be my choice as well. I have a 6 yr old CLF that does good duck hunting, but have not takein her goosin yet. Another off season project.
Have only been on this site for a few weeks also, but from what I have seen, ya'll are are a great bunch of guys.

Thanks Beeell!

My name is Jason Matheney and like Flip live in Overland Park with my Girl friend of 3 1/2 years, I too don't like to live in the city, but have too! I'm 29 years old and work for EDS as a software engineer. I grew up pheasant and quail hunting in Southern Iowa. Since '89 or so I've been soley a waterfowler. I hunt a variety of locations and terrains. I hunt out of a layout boat for water(I currently own a 12' and a 14'), I shoot a Franchi 3", blow Winglock shortreeds, Bett's Acrylic Open water, field hunt with a FA pro guide, hunt over Big foots and g & h mallards, shoot Kent faststeel, drink mountain dew and chew copenhagen.

If it flies it dies!

02-04-2003, 11:20 AM
My Name is Casey Self, I am a a couple months from being 22 and I live in KC, MO (not by choice) grew up in a small farm town in Southern Illinois and went on my first goose hunt when I was 6, started calling geese on a A-50 when I was 10. I enjoy buying new calls and then screwing them up as badly as I can and then making them sound as sweet as I like em. I still blow a guides best, and a half breed but if you ask cooked goose it sounds like no other. Finally finished tunning my half breed, but am looking at buying me a different short reed in the near future.

Moved to KC after highschool to go to Electronics Institute and start my career with Sprint PCS, I am about as die hard with hunting as most of you, I grew up studying geese, and I knew more about them at the age of 16 then most did at 50, including my dad the one that started me on this habit. I hunt over about 8 to 9 doz. decs, outlaws, big feet, sup mags, and etc..... Have a 4 year old black lab female "Chase" and she hates geese more than my girlfriend. (that is hard to beet) in her first year she retrieved 200 canada's, and over 400 ducks (oh I am talking about the dog not my girlfriend) Would like to meet more of you and do some hunting, drinking, etc...,

Happy trails,

My name is Ken Harred and I live in Burlington, KS with my wife and 3 kids. I work full time Army National Guard as a training NCO. Lived in Kansas almost my whole life. Been shooting ducks for about 10 years and never really got that serious about it. Glad to have found this site as it has provided me with a lot if information on waterfowling. I've had the pleasure of hunting with several from this board that have made this my most memorable hunting year. I blow a winglock and a newly acquired heartland goose calls, doc hull and rnt duck calls. I bought a finisher this year after recommendations from people here. Am in the process of building a marsh boat for next year. I visit several forums but this is the best with a great group of guys. Looking forward to meeting more of you.

My name is Kelly Hill, I am 22 years old and currently in my 5th year of college. I live in Lawrence and attend Ku. Liberal, Ks is where i call home. I started going upland hunting when i was 4. Actually started shooting when I was 7. Love to hunt pheasants, quail, dove, Turkey deer, and what ever else. I like to drink alot of beer and fish. O maybe i just like to drink beer. Never hunted waterfowl till 3 years ago I took my father on a Snow goose hunting trip in South TX. That gave me the bug. Went again the following year and then here we are today. I would say this is my first season waterfowlin on my own. I own a few calls(winglock, Echo) but cant blow them for shit. I am the prowd owner of 5 doz duck decoys,16 foots, 4 doz higdon stackables. For the price that us goofy flockers pay for the stuff we should be prowd of it. I haul it around in my 96 Tahoe, that has personalized "GOHUNTN" plates on it. During the hunting season I put the miles on her driving all accross kansas. Usually over a 1000 a weekend when i go home. I am single and am still looking for the girl with the right land to hook up with. I hope to graduate from KU sometime in the next couple years, so I can start hunting seriously. I have met a lot of good guys on here and look forward to meeting more....

And thats all i have to say about that....................

02-04-2003, 01:51 PM
Well, my name is Jeremy Romain and I'm 21. I'm a junior at KSU. I call Lenexa home. I hunt ducks, geese, turkey pheasants, deer, and quail. I started hunting when I was 8 and havn't looked back. Waterfowl hunting is my passion. I do a LOT of fishing when there is nothing to shoot. Oh yeah, and I go to class in my free time....haha! I shoot a Benelli M1 most of the time. CookedGoose and I do a lot of hunting together and we HAMMERED the ducks this year. So if anyone want to shoot some ducks next fall, give us a call. I wanted to say thanks! Everyone has been really awsome on here. I can go hunting or fishing almost anytime.......if anyone ever wants to do that or go grab a beer or something let know!

02-04-2003, 02:13 PM
My name is Dan Welu, I am 23 years old and recently graduated from KSU. I am from Winfield, KS where I currently live with my parents. I work in Wichita and will be moving there after I get married in July. I owe all of my goose hunting addiction to R and R kid. This is my third season of goose hunting and can't get enough of it.

02-04-2003, 02:25 PM
My name is KirK Holmberg. I am 35 and have been married for 13 years. We have 2 boys ages 2 and 4. They have both been hunting with me several times. Tight fit with all 3 of us in the eliminator but it is sure fun. My wife is extremely understanding and allows me to hunt every weekend from Sept. through January.

I have been hunting since I was 7. Started out hunting upland birds, dove and coyotes. Didn't start hunting waterfowl until I graduated from KSU in 1992. Moved to Chase, KS which is about 20 miles from Quivira and Cheyenne Bottoms.

I have been hunting geese seriously for about 6 years now. I am pretty much a self taught goose hunter and hunt by myself or with my brother most of the time. (He is huntnfish) I hunt every weekend and some during the week all season long. I am a school teacher so I get a little time to hunt over Christmas break also.

Have had many different spreads over the years. Started out with shells, got more shells and outlaws, sold them and went to 3 dz bigfoots and 4 dz Pro Series sillos, just sold them and am thinking seriously about going to hardcores next year. I have a Proseries Eliminator, an X-lander and shoot a Benelli Nova. I use an old, cheap Big River goose call. Doesn't sound that great but we shoot 100-200 geese a year using it. Think I will try to swith to a short reed next year.

My brother and I organized the flockhunt around Radium over Christmas and really enjoyed meeting some other flockers, even though the hunt sucked. I hope to meet and hunt with more of you next year.

02-04-2003, 03:29 PM
I feel like this is kind of going in this direction so here I go...... Hi my name is Trent and I have a hunting problem. I have hunted or been around it almost all 24 years of my life. I live in North Platte NE and have for all of my life. Waterfowl was what I started out hunting and have never lost intrest. I also bowhunt a( turkeys & deer), upland birds when they were hear, and fish the hell out of the walleye.

This year was the worst that I can ever remember in all of the years of hunting and now that the season has ended we are now covered up with birds up here now. I guess that they finally decided that they had to leave SD.

I have a Yellow Lab ( Jaxson) and have had many great hunts with him over the last 8 years and am looking to get another ASAP. We hunt out of Eliminators and over BF. Shoot a Benelli SBE and a Rem. 1100 and am looking at getting a Win. Super X2 for next year. I kind of went OC on the calls this year and now I own a SMH, Saunders Traffic, Zinc PC1, NP Bad Medicine, and a 1/2 Breed.

Not married, probably wont be any time soon. Been known to drink a few beers on occasion or the stray Yag and Coke. I guess that is about it.
Lets get ready for those white litle bastards in a few weeks.

Hi Guys. My name is Kirk Lathrop. I am 33. Born and raised in Wichita. I have been hunting waterfowl for 5 years now. I was a quail hunter before the bird numbers dewendled. I love hunting waterfowl especially geese. I will be married 13 years this summer and have 2 boys Trevor 8 and Jared 4. Trevor has been hunting a few times and enjoys it. My wife doesn't like waterfowl hunting because I get home by noon. She would rather me be gone all day like when I bird hunted. I shoot a Benelli Nova. I have an Elimanator blind and a spread that consists of foots, shells and sillys. I mainly hunt with my brother in law and a couple of friends. My name is Matt Elliott and am 25. I just recently moved to Nebraska from Hays, Ks. I grew up in Sterling,KS and went to college at Fort Hays State. I know Ksgoosehunter (Taylor) well (Ft. Hays guy), and yes he has been known to drink a bit. I am a big duck hunter and am just getting started in the goose hunting seen!!! As for duck calls I blow a Foiles timber rattler and a Bigmouth open water, love them both, Foiles sticks a bite to much but still sounds good. As for goose calls I blow a a HS short reed slammer but am looking to upgrade real soon.
I also love to turkey hunt and bass fish. I do not own a bass boat but I do fish some tourny's (thanks to a buddy's boat).
I teach school in Curtis, NE and love my job to death, couldn't have asked for a better profession.
I want to thank you all for the great advice you have given on the site, I am new this past month and have found it a joy to check into the site daily sometimes hourly!!! I have already met one flocknocker, AllaboutH2O, and enjoyed a hunt with him. I look forward to meeting more of you someday.

My name is Doug and I suffer from the same addiction that everyone else is here for. I have been addicted to goose hunting for about 10 years but have been going on my own for about 5 seasons now. Thus I am only twenty years old.

I attend FHSU as a physics major. I chose physics because it is the only thing that is even close to the greatness of goose hunting. I blow/growl through a SMH, shoot a fully automatic single shot anti-goose shotgun that you have to pump to get another shot and I guess that I try to hide my big ugly a$$ in an Avery Finisher. I have about 6-dozen foots and shells. My YLF is perhaps the most faithful hunting companion that I have ever had (if she would only pick up her half of the gas).

Thanks for the infinite information and wisdom.

I donít suffer from insanity, I enjoy it!

Hey guys my names Mark Bigler. I am 20 years old and am a soph at KSU(originally from Wichita). This is my second year goose hunting and 10th year duck hunting. I grew up duck hunting in Mobile Alabama's Tensaw Delta, some of the most educated ducks in the US in my opinion(you have to hunt em to see what I mean). Duck hunting is my forte. I hunt with Cself, Wildgoosechase and Goosegetter. For goose calls I really dont have much to say about that cus I really suck, I blow a Lohmann flute. For duck calls I blow a Haydels DR-85 and a Roy Rhodes Waterfowler.com series single reed. The Roy Rhodes call sounds great but you have to put wd40 ect on it to keep it from sticking. I have to agree with VChunter on his gun choice as I also shoot a beretta 390. For the 3 1/2 I shoot a 870 sm. Thanks to the guys on this website I finally had some good success hunting geese(Cself,Goosegetter :TT: ) I look forward to meeting more of you as time goes on. As for goose hunting I dont really have much to offer in terms of good places to go, but if you guys ever want to get into some ducks I'm sure me and Wildgoosechase can put you on the honey hole.

There is no such thing as a bad time to hunt

My name is Kyle Holmberg and I live in Lawrence with my wife of 6 months. She has been very supportive and never complains about my goose hunting. She even expressed an interest in going with me a few times next year. I am 27 and working on getting my teaching degree.

I have been hunting ever since I can remember. I enjoy hunting upland game, dove, deer and coyotes. I also enjoy fishing in the summer. My brother got me into hunting waterfowl about six years ago. Goose hunting has become my passion over the years. I enjoy hunting ducks early in the year, then my attention returns to geese.

I believe that I have owned/used about every different decoy on the market. Currently I am using 4 1/2 dozen bigfeet and 4 dozen RG Pro's. I am getting a trailer this summer and am considering getting Hardcores. I am switching to a short reed over the summer, so I am in between goose calls. I shoot a Beretta A391 Xtrema and hide in a Final Approach Legacy and X-Lander.

I have really enjoyed this site. It has given me a great opportunity to meet a lot of different goose hunters. I have gotten to know some great guys here around Lawrence and hope to meet some more next year.

Thanks for posting up guys. Looks like we have a great bunch of goose hunters here. I have been amazed at how much our forum has grown over the last year., and at how well everybody seems to get along. I think I visit about every waterfowl site on the net and I'm here to tell you I think we have the best goose hunting site around! Thanks to this forum, I have met and hunted with alot of different guys and would consider every one of them a friend and a class act.
Thanks to Cliff and Debe for giving us a great place to come and talk goose ( and a few other things:hest: :rf: ). It is appreciated! Also hats off to everybody in here, without you it would'nt be the place it is. :TT: :TT:

My name is Adam Kuehl and live in the KC area, Prairie Village to be exact. I grew up in ND, moved to Kansas to go to college at the great University in Lawrence. I graduated in 97 with a degree in Architecture. Worked for an AE firm out of college and now I work (until friday) for a General Contractor doing design-build type work for telecommunication companies. Soon to be employed at a high end design firm downtown.

My hunting profile is basically if it's open I hunt it. I just recently got back into waterfowl hunting two years ago, growing up in ND I did not believe that waterfowling would be any good in Kansas. I am learning to call and have been very fortunate to get to hunt with few guys that I consider good callers. I prefer duck hunting, but wacked my share of geese over decoys growing up. Quail hunting behind my shorthair is one of my all time favorite hunts, because of the decline in population I have not hunted them much. I have taken a few decent bucks and one outstanding buck. Turkey hunting has been my greatest passion for the past three years and consider myself a good turkey caller and can really work a bird. I also put down quite a few doves this year.

I also enjoy fishing, especially fly fishing and make a few trips each year to Southern Mo and hook some trout.

My name is Travis Pack, I am 24 years old, I think.... Sometimes I forget:ST: I live in Thayer KS, been there most my life. I am currently going to school at Pitt State, should be graduating in May with my BS in Plastics Engineering. Currently I do not have a job, which is alright by me, but I have been asked to help out Hooker1 at WG during there busy times.

What I hunt, basically if it flies, it dies. Anything with wings catches my attention, although I am thinking of baggin a deer this coming year, just to prove a point to some people who say it's harder than it looks:Rich: I love to hunt waterfowl. I have a partner that is willing to go anytime, anyplace, my dearest Jubilee. Love her to death, can't imagine hunting without her, and she is only 1 1/2 years old. I like to get out and quail hunt when the ducks are slow, and try to make it pheasant hunting at least once a year. I have only recorded one band in my few years on the scene, but it was a neck collared snow goose. Shoulda put that bugger on the wall.:ST:

Had all of my Canada spread stolen out of my garage last spring, they got away with nearly $3000 worth of stuff,:PO: Didn't know I had that much in it, slowly building back that spread.

Hunted with Ryhlee a couple times, and I think I might have gotten Duck Boat hooked on the geese a couple years ago, or it could have been the extremly good luck that we had: 45 in 45 with 4, and a couple other outstanding hunts :DB: :pl:

Love to fish, and within the last two years have gotten really involved when the flatheads start running at the river in the spring. Love to smoke the crappie and the big bass all year long. Last year I started fishing in January and didn't stop until mid Nov.

I blow a SMH, X-out and Heartland Original right now and like i said i am learning. I use a finisher out in the field and and am sitting on shells, bigfoots, and silos in the field. I have a nine week old Yellow Lab named AVERY. just recently bought a house and what I shoot in the field )and don't laugh) is my TRUSTY USTY, Camo mosserberg 500A. This is what I started with and it kills the honks when it needs to. Other than that, I Shoot dark and light geese here in SD because I am set up for both. Well it was nice to read all about who you hunters are and where you hunt and with what you hunt with. Take care and keep hammering the honks.

It looks like most of these posts were from Kansas hunters. Sorry guys, we get first crack at those birds here in Nebraska. My name is Frank Hoppe and I've hunted waterfowl for 56 years. I'm now 61 and still at it. I did miss a couple days last season, but will try to improve my record this year. My brother and I own a mile of riverfront on the Platte River and I guided there for 25 years. I am a trapshooting instructor that travels to gun clubs all over the country, write a column for a trapshooting magazine, and an artist that carves waterfowl and makes bronze wildlife sculptures. I have a massive decoy spread, all hand-painted, that I can't use all at once. I use Bigfoots, GHGs, G&H shells with motion stakes, and some profiles for the river set and for the mobile goose hunting. My wife of 40 years likes to hunt as well, and she is very understanding when I order more goose decoys when I have around 350 of them already. (But Honey, these are new and I think they'll work better). I have an eleven year old yellow lab named Platte River Maggie and a 6 month old nearly white pup named Platte River Chipper, (Chip). I know this post is rather long, but I'm older than most of you youngsters. I shoot a Remington 870 TB trap gun for waterfowl and an Alfermann single and a Perazzi MX2000RS for trap. I won the World Clay Target Championship by breaking 475 straight in 2002 and have been named to 22 Trapshooting All-American teams. (I was told to brag a bit).
Thanks for your Bios on this thread. I really enjoy reading about all of you and will check back for more.

Hi all. My name is Korey Kirschenmann. Been a Flocknocker member for quite a few years but never really visited the Central Flyway forum until recently.

35 years old, born and raised in ND. Live in Fargo, but mostly hunt out of South Central ND. I have a wife and 2 girls. Work for Microsoft and also own a GPS mapping company that makes GPS lake contour maps for fishing called Kirsch's Outdoor Products.

I love all forms of hunting and fishing but my two favorite hunting sports are goose and coyote/fox hunting. I have been a hunting guide but now prefer to hunt without paying clients and take my wife and buddies out. I drive a ford supercrew, hunt over 4 dozen full bodies and 18 Higdon stackables, and plan to use Power hunter blinds this year. Currently using a GK, Grounds Poly carb, and a Knight & Hale Mag clucker. All have Cliff's Area 51 reeds in them.

hey everybody, registered last season, but don't post much. my name is allen whitmer. i live in wichita and work in wichita, but try to escape as much as i can. i am 39 and have been chasing geese since i was ten, but didnt really get started until i was 16 and old enough to drive myself to the field. i have way too many damn decoys as it seems i have to buy a couple of the "new" products every year....this year i am going to have to try out the new greenhead gear decoys...i had to take out a storage unit to store all the damn things. funny thing is, i was killing geese consistently in late january over three to five doz real geese pro's. i have a chocolate lab named, Buck, who always does his best work when its just me and him. invite guests and he loses his head, or figures out it's time to play, i dont know, but i wouldnt trade him for anything. had been a remington man for most of my life , but on the geese, i love the benelli nova(cheap) tipped with a pm choke tube. i have to give all my buddies loaded down with the ten gauges a chance, afterall. i cant blow a call worth anything, but it sounds just bad enough to bring in the dumb ones. i have had the pleasure of hunting with jossie once and am looking forward to returning the favor this season(bill, you still have to teach me to blow a call) last thing....i always take the last week of january off from work to chase a few roosters and mainly try to burn myself out on honkers before the season ends...never works though. anyway, glad to be aboard flocknockers

Hello fellow flockers. My name is Lane Peterson I just turned 22 yesterday. I live in McPherson Ks and am an avid hunter and fisherman. I hunt Cheyenne bottoms, Quivira, McPherson Valley wetlands and anywhere in between. The call of choice last year was a meatgrinder which is being upgraded this year by a SMH. Last year my brother Beau and I who is my main hunting buddy killed 172 geese in the regular season along with 200 some ducks. Spend countless hours in the field with hopes of finding a career in the outdoors. If anyone needs a new hunting partner email me. You can never have enough hunting buddies.

See ya in the field

My name is Chris Jones from Longmont CO, 28 years old, WIFE? HELL NO! Currently have a girlfreind but that wll change come December, always seem to loose them around that time I don't know why, nor, do I care then! 1 son who is 5 lives with his mother south east of Tulsa, originally from Southern MO but moved out here primarily to hunt geese. BIG mistake for a goose hunter to come here in December on vacation! :CL: I have a gov't job so It allows me alot of time in the fall to hunt geese. I meet alot of my landowners thru my job, which out here is a BIG ASSET!
Started hunting ducks at the age of 8 and geese at age 13,with a hand full of old decoys my grandad had in the shed. Spent alot of time hunting them when I was young and Its a passion that has only gotten stronger as the years have went on.
I have a 6x12 enclosed trailer, with a DODGE pulling it. 24 dozen goose decoys. I prostaff for several companies including Avery to which gives me an oppertunity to hunt with alot of diffrent folks all over the country. Was in 3 flyways and Canada last year. Spending close to 80 days in the field last year. My choclate "Bullet" is more of a kid then a dog, he has the "obession" more then I do.
I would definitly be in for some trip trade to KS for CO, during the next year since MO has the 1 bird limit. :LM: Probably around the Manhatten area since I will be driving out there to kick Xtremefowlers butt. :tn:

09-19-2004, 08:29 AM
Dang I can't believe you are going to lie to all these people about yourself:MS: Chris you know you and Dustin are welcome any time and can't wait to get together again had a blast last season in CO.

My name is Tom Modin I live in the Western portion of Mo. just NE of K.C. I am by no means a goose hunter anymore and spend 99% of my time shooting ducks. This will be my 12th season or so waterfowl hunting and it has been a good 12 years.

We started out shooting Canadas in the early 90's off of local ponds and lakes, at the time it seemed easy. We had crap for dekes, some carrylite shells that were abou the size of Mag Mallards and some of the stackable hollow shells with the heads on them. We thought we were something when we found some Canada windsocks at a garage sale and cut some plywood silo's to hide behind. For some odd reason I can't remember why we switched to ducks almost exclusively after three or so years of grinding the Canadas.

Last year I went on the first "exclussively" goose hunt with some old buds and we had a good time. The passion and the hatred was rekindled a little on that trip and I hope to shoot a few more geese this year after I have filled myself with duck hunting.

My group hunts primarily out of layout boats in marsh type settings and this year most of us will be propelled through these marshes with MudBuddy motors. I have been making custom lanyards for friends for a couple years and have started selling them this past year. Not only has it given me a little spending cash but I have met some of the nicest people from all over the nation and it has been enjoyable.

I turned 30 this year and hell I'm not even in the prime years yet. Have been married to a wonderful woman for a little over one year I proposed to her during duck season two years ago after the second season she had been with me. After hunting 20 some days of the first half of season without complaints I knew it was true love:Art: :rof: Currently we are awaiting the birth of a daughter the first week of December and I already have the OK for a trip to Arkansas in Jan, so she's not all that bad.

Hope to see some of you flockers out and about I do frequent KS during duck season and Jason in KC owes me a couple hunts this year:Bn: :Bn:

My name is Craig Kidder aka Boomer, I am a fire fighter from casper wyoming and Du to that fact I have lots of time to Kill geese. I absolutly love to call in a group of geese, blast em and watch my black lab get em. It is always a good feeling to call a flock away from another group of hunters, makes up for all the funny looks I get driving to work practicing the art of calling. I am looking forward to showing my son and soon to be daughter the great outdoors. Thanks for having me on the pond! KIDDER

Bruce Carp
01-04-2005, 01:26 PM
Hi, my name is Bruce Carpenter, and reside in Callaway County, Missouri. Have hunted waterfowl for 50 years. Started with my dad and hunted with him for over 38 years. Actively hunt ducks out of a layout boat, and canadas out of layout blind. Hunt public and private areas almost daily. Seen the good old days and that is the present. Each of our children started going hunting when they were three, now the youngest is 20 and in the Navy. Have met several on the forum and each that I have met is a quality person.

01-19-2005, 06:22 PM
Howdy, my name is Brent Wesemann (aka Willy), I'm from South Sioux City, NE and I finally got my registration accepted after I figured out that I was not allowing my e-mail address to be seen. I got the acceptance e-mail from Rich and the attached message from Cliff that said to let the moderators of my flyway know a little about me and the reason why I wouldn't post much if that would be the case.

Well, I'm 36 years old, a teacher, have 3 brittanies, and a yellow lab named Brittany. It keeps things confusing.:) The social sciences are what I teach, 9th World Geography and 11th American History. I also am a Hunter Ed. instructor. I live to hunt and waterfowling and spring turkeys with a bow are my favorite quarry. I also hunt pheasant, quail, prairre chicken, grouse, and deer. I have hunted elk but only twice as it is a bit hard to get away from school for the time needed for the hunt without giving back a huge chuck of my paycheck. I have to take pay deduct days after I use my one personal day I get.

I've only been hunting waterfowl seriously for 8 years. I jump shot them in high school but that don't compare to in your face action. Geese have just recently entered in to my waterfowl quest. I have taken the occasional Canada when duck hunting and bought a dozen full bodies 4 years ago, 2 doz. sillys, a layout blind and have taken around a doz the last 3 years. This past summer I decided to go the short reed way and bought a foiles strait meat and took classes from a foiles rep, spent $1200.00 on full bodies and shells and then went after them with a vengeance. The season went awesome in my opinion. I took 3 kids out that I taught in one of my hunter Ed classes and they shot there first geese. My dad got his first Canadas(a limit at that) and I was there to witness the feat.

I probably won't be posting a lot on flocknockers unless I have something to add that I feel would benefit my fellow hunters. I mean no disrespect by not posting much. To give an example of how much I post here are my numbers from the NE Game and Parks Public Forum. I've been a member there since Jan 2002 and have posted approx. 200 times. Much of that has been in other areas than water fowling as I feel I am still a novice and learning all I can. I don't want to be the novice blow hard that tells veterans how to do what they know how to do. However I will share ideas that I have if I feel they have merit and will work for others.

Take care and thanks for having me. Look forward to learning all I can from Flocknockers and adding my 2 cents on occasion.

Seen lots of geese and a lot of cacklers or what they call aleautian geese which makes me go crazy. Now that teal season is done, hopefully I will make it home in time to bowhunt for just a bit and then be there for opening big duck so missing teal season won't be quite so hard to handle. commoraderie of the folks from here is second to none.I hunt pretty regularly
with honkerslayer from flocknockers, we run an enclosed trailer and an open 6x12 do mainly field hunting with occasional water hunt, we harvested about 120 geese this yr 175 the previous yr . The weather really put a beating on us unable to drive into fields and limited access, I did harvest
a cackler in the late season, we do not see many of these.

I'm Shayne 30yrs old from NZ. Shoot geese all year round and have two black Labradors
I have just parted with my benelli super nova and picked up a beretta extrema 2
Have around 100 decoys a mix of tanglefree pro full body's and shells. Wish they were as cheap here as the USA !! I use 50gm 3in magnum lead loads in BB which gives an effective kill range or around 80 metres.
So hi everyone!!

My name is Jeff Kratochvil, I have been retired for a year now and have been hunting all my life. I just hunt waterfowl now as my legs are not in that good of shape anymore. I pride myself on Canada goose hunting but my real love is snow goose hunting, we don't have them here so I travel south when I can.
I have been an avid skeet shooter all my life and currently give lessons at our local gun club.
I use a SX3 and SBEII for goose hunting along with big foot decoys and blow Tim Grounds calls. We have a great number of geese here in SE Wisconsin so I hunt everyday, this was our best year killing 245 Canada geese.
Should any of you ever be up this way during hunting season get ahold of me and I'll take you out !!!!!!!

New member here, Jerrod Hancock from Stephenville, TX.I am married to a wonderful woman, and we are expecting a son around teal season. I graduated from Tarleton State in 2007 with a degree in Industrial Technology. I work for an electrical contractor, and have been in construction my whole working life.

I have been hunting since I was a young child with my grandfather. Started with small game, picked up deer hunting in my teens. Started duck hunting after college with some coworkers in Arkansas. I try to hunt two days a week, I also do some part time guiding locally. I haven't had much goose hunting experience, but we have a growing resident population and see some migrators when the weather is right. Hoping to get started on the geese, but for now it is mostly ducks.

I have been around for a long time but mostly just read. My name is Brian. I am 41 years old and have a wife and two girls (5 and 2) that are going to grow up to out hunt and shoot most men.

I started hunting in middle school on lakes in East Texas. After high school started venturing out to places all around Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. In 2005 I started guiding goose hunts in Knox City, Texas and did that until 2012. For the last two years I have been living in Stillwater, Oklahoma and working in the oilfield while I get things together to start my own guide service in N. Oklahoma and S. Kansas.

I shoot a Benelli M2 but might trade to a Winchester SX3 this year.

Goose: I have way more goose calls than I need but change out frequently depending on the time of year and which one I can get to sound just right on a particular day. MG, TG, RNT, Flyway custom, Basin, Johnny Reichart, Saunders, Zink

Duck: Mostly RNT but I have a custom call that seems to always be my go to. Triple M

Mostly run silos for decoys.

I know this is late, but my name is Jeremiah. Been on the forum for a few years but never really posted anything. Grew up hunting ducks and geese here on the front range in north central Colorado. This season has been tough, cold weather and snow has pushed out geese in general area due to fall plowing and no food. Shot a limit of geese the other day and boy got first green head. Married with three kids, one boy and two girls so far. I'm 32 and hunt anything and everything every chance I get.
