View Full Version : The Slaughter II
01-20-2003, 07:55 PM
Here's how it started. Real slow and WHITE!
Then in the evening a little calling session.
Then the birds start to show up. AND
Then this is all we saw!!
A flock of six came in and some how 1 left the field. Still checking on ballistics as to why but we did get three bands!!!!!!
Extreme I did go to work and also called in the band Thank YOU.
A great big thanks to our old buddie monte for letting us come down and get warmed up for Canada next year. We may get 1 or 2. If extreme shoots straight.:Art:
01-20-2003, 08:00 PM
What do you mean if I shoot straight!!!
01-20-2003, 08:21 PM
Joe I think his not shooting straight had alot to do with lack of sleep. He was going on just a few hours of sleep.
01-20-2003, 08:31 PM
You guys are welcome to hunt with me anytime. Its hard to come by a group of hunters like this.
Joe, Thanks for the lanyard it is now supporting my bands and that call you tuned for me sounds awesom.
James, Thanks for the books, my daughter has been drawing pictures out of them all day.
Ryan, Thanks for the offer of the crown, but that is just not my thing.
Also thanks for buying dinner for our family, that was very thoughtfull.
One last thing, I am expecting a breakfast in the field when I come up and do the snow goose thing
01-20-2003, 08:45 PM
Here is a pic of wild man James,
I dont think I ever saw him put this bird down:confused:
His first band of the season and it wasnt gettin away:Rich:
01-21-2003, 05:08 AM
I put that bird down for a while..............no one else was skinning birds:JW:
when you come up, you will have breakfast if I have to cook it myself
you forgot to post a pic of our good luck charm. Monte, maybe you could get one up. She was sure worth taking along.:Art:
01-21-2003, 06:51 AM
Here is a picture of the good luck charm that James was talking about. The story behind this was that she went with me on the first goose hunt this year and I shot two birds both of which were wearing jewerly. Then she asked me Sunday afternoon if she could go out with us and I let her because it was warming up and was about 54 degrees out. She came up to me a llittle while later and said Daddy "where gonna get a band today" Well low and behold we got 3 of em............:pl: :pl: :pl: :pl: :pl:
Cant see her face but this is my daughter Alicia
You also get a glimpse of the infamous WHOOPGRASS
Here is another little good luck charm that was on his very 1st goose hunt
And yes he is blowin a foiles
01-21-2003, 06:54 AM
I can promise breakfast just like that but it may be a little colder and you'll need your bibs at the table!
Two more weeks of this and it's time for some snows!!!!!!
01-21-2003, 06:57 AM
I dont know where he got this from, maybe it was because he saw or heard stories about some of the other guys on the hunt.
maybe the signs of a real goose hunter:wak: :wak:
01-21-2003, 07:56 AM
Looks like you guys had a blast. Glad to see the little hunters along with you guys. That is what it is all about. Those memories will last a life time with the kids and the stories will be shared with your grand kids. Let us know when the snows start coming up as I can't wait. Seeing pictures of a couple of snows gets my heart rate going.
01-21-2003, 09:20 AM
that was the little guys first goose hunt:confused:
We definately need to bring those two along more often:wak:
Great pictures of the kids. My son has become a regular is my hunting group, he's not going to be to happy when he starts school and has to miss out. My daughter likes to go along too, I'm very seldom brave enought to take them both out at the same time. Sounds like you guys are hitting quite a few bands lately.
01-21-2003, 11:16 AM
Hey, there is a guy in the pawn shop wanting to buy some hardcores. Thought I would let you know since most of the birds went to the bigfoot side of the spread. Unless you still haven't got those other four you ordered 2 1/2 months ago??
01-21-2003, 01:13 PM
Looks like you guys had a great weekend.
How come in all those pictures I only saw one Hardcore decoy??
01-21-2003, 02:27 PM
Yep that was Garretts first time in the field. He has been scouting lots of times. Good way to ruin a kid, take him out for the first time and get 3 bands. He is gonna think thats the norm when you goose hunt
01-21-2003, 03:16 PM
How come in all those pictures I only saw one Hardcore decoy??
We only had the 12 hardcores which were on one side of the spread and foots everywhere else. 90% of the birds wanted the foots on the up winds side of the spread. We're still testing them but not real impressed yet. I think they'll work great for november birds but later??? As of now I'll keep my foots for the price.
R&R- How much for the call???:Luv: :pl:

01-21-2003, 04:50 PM

01-21-2003, 07:40 PM
Monte Joe doesn't know how to tune a call!! And why the did you have to post a pic of me sleeping. I does off for about 5 minutes and look what happens:NW:
