Has anyone tried one of these?? How effective are they? Isee them in some mail-order catalogs for around $30.

Also, if not a filter pump, how do you clean your oil out of a deep-fryer?

I do a lot of deepfrying of turkeys and I have the blue and yellow one, I like it and I don't buy the filters for it I just use coffee filters. If your going to do a lot of frying there nice to have, the only thing I don't like about it is that when you get to the last half inch of oil it doesn't have the suction anymore, but I usually throw that last bit out. And make sure you let the oil cool to a resonable temp (under 100 degrees) before trying to filter it. Its also easy to clean- just run it in warm soapy water and thats it.
