My brushin skills are getting a better. Just finished my 1st pair of foots.
Several questions:
1. Other than Sahara Tan what colors do you use for the feather detail?
2. How far in on the feather detail do you paint? 1/8" 1/4" ?
3. What can I add to dull the paint?
For reference in using Golden airbrush paints.
Body - Raw Umber Hue -(really like that color for the body.)
Feather detail - Titan Buff - tanish color
Butt - Carbon Back

If you go down to the bottom when you enter the decoy forum you can change the set-up from the last 30 days to the begining and you will find a lot of posts on painting decoys. These should help with your questions. You can add some black to your chocolate brown and darken it up a little. The color doesn't matter that much because if it is dark you just use less because you can control the shades with the trigger finger. Don't think in terms of a solid color because you are not trying to cover up the base, just enhance or add detail to the factory base color. Remember that practice thing I was talking about? I don't know about the other paints but if you think the color is close it will work. I just did this with those colors to show everyone they could paint right out of the bottle and the taxidermy paint is a whole lot cheaper than regular bird paints.
