was just wondering how many of the fellow hunters slow down on the geese and turn their focus on to the elusive ringneck? i still hunt geese just as much but come 9 o'clock Mr. Rooster is running with his tail between his legs!!

I myself am a hardcore waterfowler but love to hunt the elusive ringneck to... if i had the choice between going pheasant or waterfowling in one day and it was one or the other i would choose waterfowling.. but i still go ringneck with my dad and grandpa anytime i can get.. it is sort of a tradition and my dad and grandpa are not waterfowlers at all

If I'm out in the blind and goosing is slow I may walk the marsh to kick one up.

Have never missed an opening day yet. Waterfowlin is usually slowing down around pheasant opener, waiting for the migrators to show up in good numbers.
So it is time to get the dog out in the grass and kick up some birds for the crock pot! Love late season roosters, more of a challenge.
Chasin whitetail right now too!
Got to love fall!!!!!!

I generally don't mess with them until after I'm done goose hunting. Once I start though, that's all I do. Not real mad at Bambi so it I dont' spend to much time hunting him.

Chase them only if the goose hunting slows down.:Rich:

Found a new "hot spot" this spring turkey hunting where the roosters were crowing all around me. Thinking this year...gonna get serious on them things.

The resident pheasant opener starts this weekend for 3 days, cant wait, this will be the best year in a long time here in SD. Brood counts in many county's this year are at a 30 year high according to the Game and Fish Dept...from what I've seen I have to agree.

last report stated they were up 65% here. From what I seen today, MN opener, that number may be low.
Lots of corn to deal with and in one spot we got up 12 roosters. Two man limit in under a half hour.

Geese before lunch, pheasants after. I love hunting pheasants especially when you can go ice fishing(my tru love) and shoot pheasants in December.
