I shot a pair of banded ducks yesterday hunting near the coast of North Carolina. A green wing teal and a mallard hen. This represented 2 firsts for me - I had never shot 2 duck bands in a day and I had never shot a banded teal before. Some will say I shouldn't have shot the hen and I try not to most of the time but when it's early in the season I can't help myself.

Saw the Wood Duck Wizards metal detector at work one day a few years back, right Mark. I think it was 4 shots for 4 bands.

Awesome you don't see that very often when you shot 2 different types of ducks and they are banded.

Way to go man! My buddy shot a banded drake pinner and a banded drake mallard in the same day earlier this year. The mallard band was ten years old. I'll say to you what I said to him, "God Damn! You're one lucky mother****er!"

It's kinda weird they put the band on the right leg of the mallard. I've seen it on geese but never ducks before. Someone must have been in a hurry!:BM:

Almost forgot, be sure to post up the info when you get it...It's always interesting to see where they're coming from and how many times they've made the trip.:TT:

That is so freakin' sweet. I'm 37 been duckin' since I was 15 and never got a duck band. I've managed 10 goose bands but that damn duck band is my white whale. It's sweet you got two. Some day's none, others I've limited in 10 minutes.

The teal was banded in 2002 as a hatchling in Northern Quebec (the name of the town is in French). Still waiting on the mallard's info.
