:hest: Any new Honkers to report at Lower K? The count last week was down a bit and I know the flight was pretty scarce (we were there). Has the recent weather brought any new blood around?

:bh: Answered my own question with a trip up the last 2 days. New birds? Doesn't look like it. Saw and heard more on Thursday than Wednesday but they avoid the fields like they know what's waiting there (and probably do). Any birds that are around are flying from one closed zone to another and concentrating in 6B, which is a closed zone. Saw 2 small groups fly over on Thursday and I think I saw the middle toe on the lead goose in both flocks (with my binoculars) definately sticking out farther than the other toes:st: Is that some sort of secret goose code do you think? (LOL).
I heard that they are flooding fields along Highway 97 toward Klamath Falls and 1000's of geese are hanging around there. Happens every year and sucks Lower K dry until a hard freeze which ain't lookin' too promising.
Any ducks (LOL), yeah ............ right. Of course it was closed but it wouldn't have mattered anyway unless you could find a way to hide in the middle of the flooded 2" stubble at Sheepy East. That's where a few Mallrds, Widgeon and Pintails were (Pintail season is closed). But, don't get too excited, they were from about 1:01 PM till dark.
Any shooting? Yeah, but I won't go there:bh: Two days of hunting.....................guess that's why they call it hunting (man, I'm getting sick of that quote).
Cheers,

For water shoots Sump 1b consistently shooting Mallards---Last weekend 11grain was good but Oregon Straights was pretty hot big groups of Mallards working the grain, geese has been off/on. I was told the mile square (midland) was holding about 1500 Honks as of a week ago...most of them are into the Or. side with the flooded fields....A new group of birds, alot of pinnies showed up around Wed, the good wad of Mallards have not left...everyone that I hunt with is heading up there this weekend or is already up there...I can't get a single taker for Delevan #15. And I can't go...damn priorities....that's what I know- 2cents

Midland hunt club is flooding and fortunately is pulling the geese onto the oregon side. I have seen good numbers of canada's in the last two weeks and it will only get better as the season progresses. Of course the weather will dictate exactly how the hunting will unfold now that the birds are where we want them.: Rich:

Gotta give credit where due.....Just got off the phone with some friends up in LK....Straits was pretty dead....sheepy east flooded was "ok" nothing doing in 11b...guys were still out in sump 1b with little or no shots fired....midland looks good for honks, they are trying to figure out a way to short stop'em in the a.m......what difference a few days make.....good luck
