I shot a banded bird in Pa. on 11/18 and I just got the certificate back. It was banded in Quebec Canada. Thats the farthest place I've gotten a band from.

They just built some new houses next to one of the fields I hunt. Of course the birds prefer that end of the field now. 100 acres of field and they need to be near the houses.

FF,

I'm not sure where in Quebec since I cant find anything on the location. It said near le point de mire. Do you know where thats at?

DD,

Here are a few more old pics. I forgot my camera for this past Monday opener or I would have had some great pics. I had a birds feet touch my FA blind and had birds so close that I could have reached out the flagging hole and grabbed their leg.

I have a ton of pics but dont want to bore everyone. This is from our Monday opener in Pa. I forgot the camera in the field and hunted solo since everyone else thought work was more important than killing geese.

Kadd great pics buddy!! Thanks for sharin. I think I speak for most of us when I say post away. I know I really enjoy seeing dead geese, live geese, decoy spreads, blinds , guns, and smiling faces. I never get enough so don't be shy !! :hest:

I shot 2 singles while my buddy worked with his dogs. The next flock comes in and he shoots one bird out of it. Of course its banded. His 3rd of the year. We were hunting traffic and only taking one bird at a time to make the hunt last longer.

The pics seem to be getting distorted when I shrink them to meet the size limit but you get the idea.

My spread on Sat. I never got a chance to try it out because the farmer decided to spread sh!t in the field when they started flying. About the time he finished spreading, they finished flying.:TT:

I was off from before x-mas until today. I hunted just about every day. Its a shock to be at work today. Looks like I'll have to go back to hunting before work to make it through the day. Here are a few pics from my time off.

Rather than get in with the flock like in the above pic, I decided to hunt traffic. (if you can call it that) We picked off our limits on singles and small flocks before the big flocks got there. I couldnt sit in my blind for hours before the flock went back to roost again.

Thats one of the fields I can hunt.(all of the pics are places I can hunt) I was right there with all of those birds. My decoys are mixed in with them. I set the blind out from the decoys because the birds have been real spooky. I had to sit there until the afternoon before they went back to roost. The pic after that was 2 days later. I didnt feel like sitting around so I hunted on the other side of the field. I limited out before the big flocks got there and pulled the decoys out so the rest of them didnt have a clue. The birds havent been in that field since Sun. Now they are about a mile away on a co-op farm. They wont be there long. I have a place I've been watching for this weekend that could be great. We are getting a bunch of cold weather this week that could change things but if it holds up I will have some great pics next week.

Maybe you could come down and show me the silo trick - lol The bad part about hunting here is a 2 bird limit. Thousands of birds and a 2 bird limit.

Be thankful kadd... We only get one bird a day. Yes it is better then none. Hopefully next year they give us two.

Can you guys hunt on Sundays??

kadd
01-22-2004, 10:36 AM
Nope, wish we could but then again it would just be that much more pressure on the geese from the weekend warriors.

GooseMan17

Yeah you got a point. I never looked at it that way. But it would still be nice to be able to hunt on Sunday!! You guys done for the year yet or not??

Northern zone in Pa. is open until 2/15. I'm going up to hunt it this weekend. It will probably be my last hunt since my wife is due on the 15th and I have to stick around. Dont want to be picking up the decoys and doing 90mph down the road trying to get home like with my son. She went 2 weeks early. I thought she was calling to see how I was making out not to tell me she thinks labor has started.
