Thanks Dumpem, we don't need all of them, about 1/2 would be great. We may not get any at all but this looks like our best chance for this year. We had a decent hunt for the Flocknockers, everyone got to shoot a few times, Canadas, Specks and ducks. Could have been worse considering it was as warm as Miami.:tn: We will see what the weather brings us but we should get a few anyway we can hope!!

Was out again today and we shot our geese. Did notice LOTS of mallards headed south. Also seen a couple lines of snows. Seen only about 3-4 groups of geese high headed south. So southern boys be ready for some new mallards and maybe a few white cheeks. Better to have the story than to be told the story so get in the field!!! Good luck and stay warm.

Fellas, if you have any sick days - you best be useing the on Thur and Friday and hunt Sat as well.
What do you get when you have 4 inches of snow on ground for a week.
What do you get when you have 21 deg temp and wind chill of -3 deg.
What do you get when you have east wind at 20 mph, next day north wind at 16 mph and next day west wind at 25 mph.
What do you get when you see geese up really high headed south.
Me, me I know..... I know.....
You finally get a MIGRATION worth talking about ...
Hope some stick around till Sat or central Illinois ...
Good luck ...

Goose gods are watching ...
As luck will have it, my work schedule has been changed because of the snow. It is my time to COME IN EARLY FOR SNOW REMOVAL.
And when you go in early, you can either stay for the overtime - or- go home after 8 hrs. Usually I will stay, rathole gets low you know.
Well tomorrow, I will clock in at 6:15 am and be gone at 2:15 pm.
Any guesses where I'll be till sunset......

Finally killed my first specklebelly today. Sweeeet!!!!! Had 15 goo locked up, cupped up loving it when i spotted 5 specks mixed in. I would have beat any dog on that retrieve. That was my mission this year. Also killed 2 big goo. Miserable day but was well worth it.

Well, sometimes things don't go as planned but it is still a FINE TIME TO BE OUTSIDE.
Went in early as planned, clocked out early as planned.
Set up rig as planned and - and - and well the geese never showed up ------ BUT
The MIGRATORS are here - just at dark I have seen more geese that you can hope for.
I mean like 3,000 -- hell yeah 3,000 -- here in central Illinois.
Have to see if they are still here Sat...
Get ready for a great day in southern half of state ...

We have had a fair year. The weather was good if you like winter golf but it had not got goosie untill this last week.
You need cold weather - to make them want to feed, you need snow cover - to make it had to find any feed, you need open water - to keep them happy enough to stay around.
You need a large enough population of geese so as not to have hunted the same birds 3 days in one week.
You need disruption of the flock. Over here they are all of the same summer group, when one family gets up to go feed they ALL go. If it is towards you setup, your in business, if not you have had a nice day outside. That's the problem of hunting a perminant pit. If you can break up those family groups, then you get some doubles and singles playing the game.
They know where they want to go and you can flag till your arm falls off but it ain't happening......
Ok, enough whining from central Illinois --- let's kill some geese Sat
