Sorry I don't have any photos for this one; maybe next time.

Monday night we went out to monitor the first 25 woodduck boxes that we installed on a new DU project last year.

Anticipation was running high as four of the first nine boxes had been used successfully.

It was getting on dark and as it had been an uneventful evening I let my guard down on box 21 - opened the side and noticed that only a few twigs had been placed on top of the shavings...I reached in to pull them out.....BUUUZZZZ........Freakin' bees everywhere.

The Stubby one was down the ladder and in the boat is record time but not before five of the little buggers had found their mark. The guy I was with was laughing his arse off until they decided that he was just as much to blame as I was.

Note to self.....shake the pole and LISTEN before opening the box and sticking in hand. Lesson learned.

No, not yet. I'll go back when the ice comes on and remove the hive and then I'll take the honey. That's some good stuff :uh:

At least you can show some anti your battle scars stubs and give em the "I took one for the team" lines. :rf:

Hey at least some of the boxes were used, and lesson learned too, let your buddy check the boxes that buzz. :nn:
