Had to go to Rochester NY this weekend, and while there did some scouting with my non-waterfowl hunting buddies. Man, it was a great winter and spring! First of all - we saw a ton of does with fawns - more twins than we had seen in quite awhile. And the fawns looked very healthy which is a great indication that the rest of the herd is good.
Bucks.............Did we see some bucks! Its funny - seen quite a few good ones but it seems you only seem the big boys with either a matching bookend or with one near it in size - very rare to see them in bachelor herds. We did see some good size bachelor groups - one group was 7 deer in a field with all being bucks - the biggest a good 8 all the way down to a fork horn.
Also seen some "interesting" bucks - one had horns down over its eyes like a cape buffalo .
Waterfowl hunting is certainly my first love but seeing some nice Big bucks certainly peeks my interest too!
Anybody else seeing some good bucks?

Bones,I have got 2 twin 10 pointers and a non typical with 2 main beams on the right side behind my house. All three of them have about a 19" spread and they are always together. Been keeping an eye on them for about a month. Do you deer hunt Western N.Y.?

I watch my boys all year. My wife thinks i need to name em'. I only hunt 2 miles away so i shoot my bow and watch deer almost every night. We have 13 bucks with 6 good bucks. I took 2 Popers out of the gene pool last year. Our deer are eating mostly soybeans right now. I saw a buck hardhorned Aug 23rd last year which was unusual. Love to see the crazy things they do sometimes.

QW - yeah, I use to do alot more deer hunting but now just limit myself to a weekend for Bow and the opener week with gun up there in the Rochester area. The area I hunt usually keeps me satisfied with success - other than last year when I didn't get one with a bow - I usually kill enough deer (got to love those 4 doe tags) to get it quickly out of my system and back into goose killing mode.
It pretty neat to see those Rackers hanging out together but I'd love to be out with my Bow when the first hot doe get's between them - I'm sure there would be some heavy duty fighting going on!!
Dumpem - that pretty fine work to get have success on two P/Y in the same year!!! Shoot - I'd be happy with just one!!:CL: :CL:
Would love to see a pic if you got one!
