View Full Version : Goose calls and sound
I have a question about size and the soud goose cals make, this pertains to short reeds. I was just wondering what changing diferent parts of the call do like if the barrel is longer how does it change the sound, if the insert is also longer it creates a deeper sound? any help at all would be great.

Well, Generally speaking, a shorter call doesn't take much air to blow. However, if you have a short call and it's tuned hard, it will be hard to blow.
Tuning has a lot to do with things.
The length of the call and where the sound board etc. also has a lot to do with the sound.
If you push the reed in, or if you pull it out more then normal, the pitch of the call changes.
Hope that helps...

Joe every little change will do something. Only one way to find out and that is just do it and see what happens.
