I recently bought an old .410 for my grandkids (4 of em)
It is only 2.5" chamber and the steel and wood aint perfect.
The name brand is...Iver Johnson...model is...Champion.
I thought it would be a good starter gun for em with low recoil.
I paid $60 for it. Question is did I get skinned on this deal?

If you got a WORKING gun for $60, there is little to get skinned on. Could you have bought it for $50? Perhaps, but even if the thing was GIVEN to you you'd only be $60 ahead of the game.

$60 guns are pretty hard to come by these days no matter where you look or what you're looking at. Hope the kids enjoy it.

That's going to be the best $60 you've ever spent when you see the look in their eyes the first time out...:TT:

I have one just like that and my kids loved shooting it when they were little. Just make sure it is tight and safe most are and are great little guns to start a kid out on. I think you done real good, post up some pictures when they start shooting it.

I agree 100% - when the kids are out having a ton of fun with the awesome gift Grandpa gave them, the $60 will be quickly forgotten. Besides, it's a fair price.

Gonna give it a trial and see if the old thing still works this weekend. My buddy and I are going turkey scoutin on his property
in Brown county Indiana. I figure I'll test it out by the cabin before we leave.

Value is as follows:

Iver Johnson Arms. Inc. Champion came in 10ga-.410 including 32 and 28 ga., Manuf. between 1909 and 1956, single barrel, hammer exposed, auto ejector, plain pistol grip stock...@100%=$175, 98%=$150, 95%=$125, 90%=$100, 80%=$75, 70%=$50... (Source, 23rd Edition Blue Book of Gun Values by S.P. Fjestad)...I'd say you got your $$$'s worth in that deal if you are just worried about the $$$ value...there are a lot of guns that are worth hundreds of dollars to me that someone else wouldn't pay $50 for...beauty is in the eye...enjoy!

Ran 5 shells through it...no problem! Now for the 6y/o grandson to "grow into it" The full choke on it has a tight little pattern on it also.

You got a fair deal, and your young shooters will have a ball. My grandfather left me an Iver Johnson 16 gauge that is a spittin image of the gun you have pictured.Been years sinse its been fired. It has a 36" full choke barrel and kicks like a mule. Been thinkin of trying to bag a turkey withit this year. Good huntin
