I have a winchester model 12 serial# 406406. I think it was bought by my great -grandfather in the late20's early 30's. It is full choke, 30" barrel, nickel steel. All of the parts still work on this gun but I have two problems. The trigger is super light and shells like to stick (can't pull the pump backonce it has been fired). This gun has been hunted with for four generations so I'm sure something is worn out. Has anyone had this kind of work done? Is it expensive? I've never used a gunsmith before, so I don't know what I should be looking for. Is there some kind of certification for different kinds of work? I have my shotguns but it would be nice to take her out a few times next year.

I've always found that word of mouth is my best guide in looking for a gunsmith. Anybody worth their salt should be able to take care of your problem...:TT:

In so far as price to repair, sounds like the sentimental value is worth it, what ever it is...:hest:

Yeah It's definitely getting fixed this year. I shoot trap now at a small club with a bunch of "seasoned shotgunners", they told me the name of a guy that is supposed to be the best around here. I found out he quit a few years ago. So now I'm back to looking around. Time to start diggin in the yellow pages...
