My 3 son's aren't yet of age to get license yet - but I see that most state have an early youth hunt for waterfowl. Just wondered how many of the FK members take there kids out that day. Would like to hear the experiences - would think that it would be a great time out, seeing the birds would be not pressured.

They are great pics teal-time. It's great to see the youth getting out enjoying the outdoors. I wish they had some type of youth hunt up here in Ontario. No such luck but I still enjoy seeing and hearing about the hunts down south.

Bones, when my kids were young enough, I used to take them out. We always had a great time. One thing my youngest son realized when he was the only one shooting was, that he really needed to work on his shooting skills. Some of my best memories from those hunts were of birds coming in and landing in the spread and my son standing up and shooting and not dropping a thing. We had a group of birds come in twice and both times he emptied out and did'nt touch a bird. They started to come back a third time and he tried to hand me the gun........he had the nickname "whif", that year.:rf: :rf:

Great pic's teal time!:uh:

David,
You really need to talk your Dad into getting you a Digital Camera!!!!:hest: As you will be hunting with me a fair amount this year when your dad has to work. He said you could go just about any time so I figure what the heck!! Going to miss youth weekend again this year though as I will be in Montana chasing Elk.

Bone's,
As you can see us SO Oregon and Northern Cali guy's have the advantage to take the younger (Future) generation out on youth weekend. Though my daughter isn't even close to being able to go. I have taken kids out for the youth opener weekend for the past 5 years prior to last. (Wasn't able to make it back from Elk camp in time). It is great weekend to get the kids out for some garanteed shooting.

Matt we just got a digital 8 camcorder last week. So my dad will be filming the youth hunt this year. We still don't have a digital camera yet, but maybe by season.

That is great. You should be able to atleast take 1 mp pics with the camcorder. With my camera and your's we should be able to get some good footage this season.
