I'm looking to buy a new duck call for next season. I was thinking about getting the double reed lynch mob stranglehold. I've read that it's a good call but I don't know anybody that has one personally. I'd like to here your comments on it and any other suggestions for calls. Thanks.

I've been using a dbl reed Stranglehold for 3 seasons now and I like the call. I'm not the best duck caller for sure but it's easy to blow and has a good nasty duck sound for me. It's not the loudest call out there but I use it on marshes, rivers and fields and it calls the ducks in fine. This year I actually picked up a new one and it sounds just a wee bit better then the other one that I got 3 years ago. If possible, give George a call and he'll run one over the phone for you and he also has a "demo" program available were you can test run a call, if you like it, he'll charge your cc, if you dont like it, return it. |

Personally I have found the nicest double reed I have ever tried and without a doubt the easiest to use is my Fowl Foolers by Capt. Charley. It takes very little air for soft work and you can scream on it when you need to without it sticking or messing up. Cost me a whole $29 too!!
The best part is the ducks dont seem to mind it either and I am not the greatest caller out there by any means.

There are a ton of wonderful call makers out their. my choice would be to start out with a good single reed. Nothing can top the sounds a single reed can make. Sounds to me that you are new to duck calling? Look up Keith Allen and pick up his intro to calling CD. By the time duck seasons starts next year your buddies will all want to be sitting in your blind. Good luck

I use a double reed Stranglehold and really like it.
George has a "try and buy" program also. Give him a call and leave a credit card number ,etc. Try the call. if you like it great!!! If not simply return it. Jeff |
