Question Goose nesting boxes?

Found this:
http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/resource/b...st/ndstruc.htm

But was wondering if anybody had any luck building a Goose nesting structure?
I have never tried one - but would be interested in hearing for anybody that did.

Thought the same thing Bob - was hoping somebody else has done the Goose nesting thing and could give us a short cut or suggest an easier way to make a couple.

We've made them before, but not like that plans you posted. OUrs was a 4'x4' floating platform (like a floating wooden crate) that is anchored. It resembles a small island. I've tried to find the plans but so far nothing. When I get the time I'll look again or draft some up and post them.

Years ago we made some of these platforms. Plywood deck,4'x4', drill abunch of holes in deck , 1" round for drainage , 2 or 3 6" x 4' logs on bottom for floats ,4" saplings around the deck on top, brush it up ,leaves, grass, hay, branches, ect. Anchor it and you've goose club med. Cheap and easy.I've seen them work. There's all kinds of variations .

Good time for bonding, Bob O

I wonder if wooden pallets would work as a frame for what you have described?

Waterfowl USA has a new design. They are using $' PVC pipe and a halh barrle. They look real nice they float, and the geese seem to like them. You might want to contact them about it.

Pallets should work fine if the gap between the boards isn't too wide on the top side. Any kind of floating platform ,brushed up will work.

Ive placed pallets to above the water level and then a couple bales of hayor straw, about 70% were used by geese.
Also usinf a RR tie or heavy post8x8" 5-6 frrt high.
built a 1/2 box
24x30 from 2x12 Sides 2x8
I have geese on 2 of 5 this year[IMG][/IMG]
